ABOUT

Joel Schwartz is an ASCAP and SOCAN award-winning composer for film and television.

His credits include Sullivan’s Crossing, Ripple, Ride, and Paris Paris, with music heard on CTV, The CW, CBC, Netflix, and other platforms. He works with showrunners, directors, editors, and post teams to help define the sound of a series and support the emotional needs of each scene.

Joel’s music is shaped by years spent as a guitarist, touring musician, and record producer. That background shows up in the details: the feel of a performance, the shape of an arrangement, the choice of tone, and the way live instruments sit inside a score.

His work as a musician and producer appears on award-winning and nominated recordings recognized by the JUNO Awards, Canadian Folk Music Awards, Western Canadian Music Awards, SOCAN, ASCAP, and others. He has toured and/or recorded with Birds of Chicago (Allison Russell), Amelia Curran, Matthew Barber, Jill Barber, Great Lake Swimmers, and Royal Wood.

As a screen composer, Joel brings a musician’s ear to the scoring process, with a focus on tone, collaboration, and music that feels connected to the characters on screen.
